Centum Technologies, a managed IT services and consulting partner headquartered in New Jersey, sees its business growing rapidly. The privately-held, woman- and minority-owned company launched in 2016 as a professional services firm and since has evolved into offering IT infrastructure management, application and cybersecurity services.

Demand for managed infrastructure services is growing across verticals, notes Sachin Soni, co-founder and CTO of Centum Technologies. “We’ve seen a lot of traction for managed IT services,” he says. “It’s very difficult to find quality employees, but with managed services, we can have IT teams ready for our customers, whether that is for managed services, professional services or consulting.”

Companies’ accelerated digital transformation plans, coupled with the “Great Attrition,” makes competition for IT talent fierce. And that’s driving an increased need for more flexible infrastructure services, data management and protection, and cybersecurity.

Data Management and Protection are Top of Mind

As businesses become more data-driven, the need to efficiently manage and protect that data is even more important.

“The data footprint is growing every day,” he says. “The challenge is to fit more data into a smaller footprint.”

Not only do customers of all sizes need fast, reliable storage but they need to be able to reduce costs through data deduplication and tools that simplify provisioning.

“Hitachi is doing a really good job in this area,” he says, noting that Centum has been able to extend its reach into more midsize businesses with the Hitachi Vantara VSP E Series storage platform. “We’re winning new customers that have not used Hitachi before,” he says. “

Protecting all that data is also a top priority for Centum’s customers.

“Ransomware is on everyone’s mind,” says Soni. “People talk about the importance of cybersecurity, but they forget the recovery from ransomware falls on the backup and storage systems. Customers need a solid recovery plan because if a business is attacked, there is no guarantee they will get their data back.”

An Effective Partnership with Hitachi Vantara

Centum maintains a strong relationship with Hitachi Vantara, which has grown deeper as Centum expands its portfolio of network and storage infrastructure, data recovery, cloud, and cybersecurity services.

“Hitachi is very partner focused,” says Soni.

The Hitachi relationship also aligns with Centum’s customer-first mindset. “We have to provide the right solutions to our customers,” he says. “Hitachi understands that and takes care of the customer.”

Soni also notes another difference in working with Hitachi Vantara.

"The Hitachi culture is unique, the depth and breadth of knowledge and experience Hitachi engineering team has is something you don’t always see. he says. “That experience makes a big difference when I need to find solutions for my customers.”
