Hitachi Vantara and Veeam: Forging a Global Data Protection Partnership

Integration aims to enhance backup, recovery, and ransomware detection capabilities for enterprise storage solutions

Hitachi Vantara and Veeam: Forging a Global Data Protection Partnership

In an era of increasing ransomware attacks and data breaches, your customers face unprecedented challenges in safeguarding their critical data. More than 75 percent of organizations suffered at least one ransomware attack in the past year, according to the Veeam 2024 Data Protection Trends Report. These high numbers emphasize the need for effective strategies and partnerships to combat escalating cybersecurity risks.

Hitachi Vantara has responded to this need, forging a global strategic data protection partnership with Veeam, a market share leader in data protection and ransomware recovery. This collaboration enables Hitachi Vantara's channel to offer Veeam's comprehensive data protection products, enriching their storage solutions portfolio.

The integration of Veeam's Data Platform with Hitachi Vantara's storage offerings—including the Virtual Storage Platform One (VSP One), Hitachi Content Platform (HCP), and Hitachi Unified Compute Platform (UCP)— provides backup, recovery, immutable storage, and advanced ransomware detection capabilities for customers.

Taking a Channel-first Approach

Kimberly King, SVP of Strategic Partners & Alliances at Hitachi Vantara, emphasized the strategic significance of this partnership, stating, "As we continue to champion a channel-first approach, our partnership with Veeam epitomizes our commitment to empowering our partners."

This partnership aligns with Hitachi Vantara's strategy under CEO Sheila Rohra, who was recently named one of CRN’s Top 25 Technology Disrupters. She has focused on expanding Hitachi Vantara’s product innovation as well partnerships with industry leaders.

The company already boasts technical alliances with other leading data protection providers, including Commvault and Veritas. Through partnerships, Hitachi Vantara can offer consumption models such as data protection as a service (DPaaS) to seamlessly integrate with existing infrastructure and software solutions.

Hitachi Vantara solutions also align with frameworks such as The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), allowing businesses to confidently safeguard their data and operations while meeting strict regulatory requirements. By taking a strategic approach to data protection, businesses can improve their operational resilience and reduce the risks of cyberattacks and data breaches.
