Strategies to Improve RPO/RTO and Cyber Resiliency

How to keep customers’ data safe with the latest backup, replication and security strategies.

Strategies to Improve RPO/RTO and Cyber Resiliency

World Backup Day shouldn't just be March 31. It should be each and every day.

Your customers’ data is more valuable than ever – but it is also at greater risk of system failure, user error, and malicious attack. The cost, reputation impact, data loss, and other implications can be devastating if an organization is unprepared.

But as an IT solution provider, you can help customers with the right combination of tools to achieve more reliable backups, faster recovery and enhanced cyber protection so they can mitigate the risk. Download this Buyer’s Guide to Data Protection and Cyber Resiliency to learn more.

Today’s Biggest Data Protection Challenges

Backup and recovery is not new, but the reality is that most organizations rely on backup and recovery solutions that were not designed to protect against today’s sophisticated threats and to operate easily in complex hybrid cloud environments. As a result, IT teams have had to adapt how they work and backups take more time and more manual effort. Weak data protection and cyber resiliency practices expose organizations to ransomware and malware.

The ransomware threat is big and getting bigger, as attackers now target the backup environment itself. Your customers need better ways to protect their protection.

Consider These Three Buying Criteria for Data Protection Solutions

Always available – Customers need their data to be readily available, and replication is critical to maintain multiple synchronized instances of their IT resources in geographically distributed locations to ensure continuous operations. The chosen replication solution should be able to replicate data and objects to multiple destination targets as well as bring data from external sources back to the platform. Choose a storage platform that delivers a 100% data availability guarantee for the lowest risk.

Always backed up – To restore data quickly, it has to be backed up first. That’s obvious, but easier said than done. Today’s storage environments are a complex mix of different backup apps for different data types and data sources, including multiple cloud providers. To streamline data backup follow the simple rule of thumb:

3 copies of data; 2 different media’ 1 offsite copy’ 1 copy offline, air-gapped or immutable = 0 errors

Select backup applications that include features such as automated tiering, direct-to-object connectivity and support for object lock to enable immutable data backups.

Always protected – Your customers need to be able to explicitly guard their data against unauthorized access, data breaches, and data leaks. Advise them to take a layered approach by protecting their data, detecting intruders quickly, and automating recovery.
