For almost every organization, data lies at the heart of every operation. As organizations strive to harness the power of data to drive innovation, the importance of efficient data storage and migration cannot be overstated. However, behind the scenes, solution providers and IT professionals must tackle many different issues when configuring and managing storage arrays and migrating to new storage systems.
Whether it's ensuring compatibility between legacy and modern systems, mitigating risks of data loss or downtime, or optimizing performance while minimizing costs, the challenges are multifaceted and not always simple.
In Episode 2 of her Unbreakable? series, Byron talks to a Hitachi Vantara partner about an accounting firm that handles sensitive financial data. It has a small IT team needs a data storage solution that is simple to implement but can handle fairly complex data migrations.
Voice Activation for Easy Storage Provisioning
To discover answers, Byron in this episode talks to expert Johnny Koen at the Hitachi Vantara Center of Excellence, who discusses the solution path for radical simplicity in data management. He explains how Hitachi Vantara first sits down with each customer to complete a questionnaire that captures all the information needed to configure their Hitachi Vantara storage, including IP addresses, names, pools, and the like.
The Hitachi Vantara Distribution Center then configures the array based on the specs and delivers to the customer’s location. Then the customer can literally do one thing: put it in the rack and power up.
Koen describes the functionality in Hitachi Vantara’s Ops Center Administrator and Ops Center Automator that guides customers as they move data from old to new arrays. Together with Byron’s help, he demonstrates how Siri works within the Hitachi Vantara solution and via simple voice activation, the system can provision storage volumes by size and name.
