The tech world may be entranced by generative AI, says CRN, but the IoT market is forecasted to increase by 10.6 percent this year – to $805.7 billion – as organizations digitize operations. That adds up to big opportunity for IoT solution providers.

The CRN article “5 Industrial IoT Solutions That Are Solving Big Problems” rounded up five significant vendors, including Hitachi Vantara, that are solving big problems for manufacturers, utilities and building operators.

CRN says Hitachi’s Lumada portfolio gives “utilities a new way to protect power grids against climate-related challenges with a set of applications to help them identify and reduce risks to infrastructure.”

For example, the Hitachi Lumada Inspection Insights portfolio allows utilities to automate asset inspection, improve physical security, and reduce risks related to storms or fires. They can use Hitachi Image-Based Inspection software to analyze images and videos captured by drones to detect defective electrical transmission and distribution equipment. Hitachi Intelligent Infrastructure Monitoring allows utilities to remotely monitor and analyze substation operations using cameras and IoT sensors. Utilities also can use Hitachi Vegetation Management to analyze the stability of vegetation to keep their grid infrastructure safe.
